General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
For your son, I would also recommend the following:
a. Use lukewarm water for sponging. This will help bring down the temperature
b. Try some steam inhalation. This should relieve the cold and cough.
c. Keep the room absolutely clean and put a humidifier in the room. Often, dry air causes the symptoms of a cold and cough to increase.

Hope this helps.
