Low Grade Fever, Severe Chills, Teeth Chattering, Lower Abdomen Pain. What Could Be This?

Hi, two nights ago i awoke with a low grade fever but severe chills, teeth chattering etc. I also had one episode of nausea and vomiting in the night. The next day I was sick and my whole body ached, so I assumed flu. Throughout the day I started feeling somewhat better except for continued aches in my lower abdomen. Today they have continued, sometimes a dull ache others a more sharp pain and now it seems to be radiating as an ache into my right testicle? My wife seems to think appendicitis but I am not so sure

Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, it seems that you are having Urinary Tract Infection(UTI).

Fever with chills, lower abdomen pain radiating towards testicle along with nausea/vomiting are commonly seen in urinary tract infection.

I would suggest that you should get following investigations :-
1. Urine examination (Routine/Microscopic and Culture/Sensitivity).
2. Kidney Function Test.
3. Complete Blood Count(CBC).
4. Ultrasound lower abdomen.

You should drink lots of water daily.
Avoid spicy foods.

Antibiotic can be planned according to the reports of the culture/sensitivity reports of the urine examination.

You can take urinary alkalizer like Disodium hydrogen citrate in diluted form.
You can take paracetamol for fever.
Other medical management can be planned according to the reports of the above mentioned investigations.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
