Lost Weight, Back Pain, Temporary Reddish Forehead, Legs Stiff, Hard, Done Bone Scan. Healing Time?

My father has lost a great deal of weight. He is 77 years old. He does not eat. He has back pain and has lost a lot of his muscle in his legs and arms. He has a reddish/purple forehead which comes and goes. He has a hard time walking. His legs are very stiff and cannot hardly bend them. He is now at Cleveland Clinic where they are doing a bone scan and a variety of test.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
A sudden loss in weight can cause a weakness, electrolyte imbalance causing all the symptoms. The stiffness in the legs could be related to muscle cramps. taking muscle relaxants will help.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
