Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 6 month old has recently been having very thin, almost watery stools . We were told it was a bug last Thursday when we took her in. Some diapers she ll have the normal curdy/paste like stools, but others she tends to have a thin stool with some curds and almost like snot to it. She hasn t been put on solids yet (her doc wants to wait until her 6 mo. well baby check up), could that be the reason it s so watery? Because she needs more than just the formula?
Hi madam/sir,
I am sorry that your baby is suffering from loose stools. Your baby has started passing loose stools only recently, but she has been taking formula milk since a long time and was passing normal stools before. So definitely its not because of non introduction of solid food items. As suggested by doctor, it could be due to bugs like viruses. Make sure that feeding bottles, utensils you use to prepare formula are clean and boiled well. Sometimes it could be just a normal variation which gets alright by its own.
So just keep giving her adequate formula milk, maintain hydration and she will become alright soon. If loose stools persist or condition worsens, a pediatrician opinion may be sought. Take care.
