Longer Than Normal Periods After Putting New Implanon. Anything To Worry?

My daughter is 24 and has one child. She had her implanon removed last August 2012 and a new one implanted. She is now experiencing longer then normal periods. 3 weeks at a time with maybe 2 week between. She is now having another period and this time she bleed one day and stopped, then started again for 3 days, and is now seeing almost black coloring. What can cause this? Is this something serious? What can she do?

Hello ma'am.

Menstrual irregularities are seen with the insertion of implanon. Although this would not have been present earlier, it can be seen wirh new insertion.

I would not consider this to be a cause for concern as of now. But if this continues or gets worsenin the next 2-4 months, please report to a doctor.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
