Little Shortness Of Breath After Doing Anything Strenuous, Weakness In Legs While Getting Out Of Bed. What's Wrong ?

Hello, I am an 81 yr.old male. 5 8 , 160 lbs. in better than good condition. I m involved with water aerobics , 1 hour, 3 x week, and swim some laps after the excersises. I m starting to experience a little shortness of breath after doing anything strenuous, and recently I have extreme weakness in my legs upon getting out of bed. Lasts about 15 seconds, but legs are very wobbly and cannot walk. What s up?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
At the age of 81 years swimming for one hour is not advisable.
Again you get breathing problem while doing some strenuous work indicates that you might have some coronary insufficiency.
Getting problem of having difficulty in walking might be due to some cerebral insufficiency, might be due to high blood pressure.
Go for ECG and blood pressure checking.
Afterwards go for swimming 25-30 minutes only and with light swimming.
Ok and bye.
