Little Bump On The Top Of Skull Due To Hard Hit With Intermittent Sharp Pains

Several months ago, I hit my head hard. I did not lose consciousness but I saw black, vomited and had dizziness for hours. My head literally took out the freezer door drawer (that was full of frozen goods)! I didn t go to the doctor at the time. Even after all this time, there is still a little bump on the top of my skull. Since then, I will have this intermittent, sharp pain in that spot. Will lasts a few minutes and go away. However, today my head feels like it is going to explode out of that spot. Hurts really bad, does not feel like my typical migraine, and is accompanied by nausea and dizziness. I have tried some migraine medicine but it is not working. I have been stressed lately so it could be a tension headache. But could it be something else, even months after I hit my head??

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello !
I read your question and understand your concern. As far as I understand you have suffered a head concussion. The bump on the top of your skull may be a subcutaneous hematoma, which has been transformed into fibrous tissue. The problem with your headache may be related to a nerve entrapment at that point , giving sharp pain, typical of neuralgias. It is not tension type headache , because that type of headache is not characterized by intensive pain, but moderate. I would recommend Indomethacine for the pain relief twice daily. If the problem persist I would recommend to consult with a neurologist and have a brain CT scan, to rule out a possible chronic subdural hemorrhage.
Hope to have been helpful!
