Leg Pain, Hairline Fracture In Pelvic Area. Walking Helps. Why Is The Pain Not Leaving?
i have radiating pain in right leg which radiates from L4- L5 region. pain is since 1982 and sometimes it is more or sometimes it is less. but my pain gets relieved when i walk and gets worse when i have rest and most worst when i lie down. Therefore, i have disturbed night sleep and when the pain becomes unbearable, i take walk and i get alright. hot water bottle at L4-L5 region also gives me big relief. i am 57, and the pain started because i had fall from cycle in Oct 1981 and had hairline fracture at somewhere at pelvic bone. i became alright after 2 months bed rest but pain developed at L4-L5 region after one year i.e 1982 and radiating to right leg which is still there. now for the past 6 months, the pain has started continously troubling me.
As your radicular pain has been there for the past 3 decades, I suggest you to undergo an MRI scan of the lumbar spine which specifies the amount of disc compression over the nerve root.
Since, you are having continuous radiating pain down the leg, an Epidural steroid injection may be helpful in alleviating your symptoms.
I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further workup and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
