There are many causes of blood in stools.
Blood in stools is associated with pain in the abdomen, so an infectious cause has to be ruled out at your age.
A stool sample examination is required.
Any infectious agent if present will be detected and thus can be managed accordingly.
If no infectious agent is identified, other causes e.g. irritable bowel syndrome
, inflammatory bowel disease
, mesenteric ischemia
etc have to be ruled out.
Thanks and take care
