Knotted Blue And Darker Veins, Pain In Vein Middle Of Forearm. Reason For These Veins?

I have had knotted veins my whole life they are blue and have gotten dark over time, it runs in my family. My mother had some cut out about 20years ago and more grew back. mostly they don't bother me. unless I fell they growing or they get swollen. there is one that is in the middle of my forearm that is hurting for a few weeks now, I think it will stop hurting on its own, I was wondering what causes them and if it would be vital to have a doctor check them out. I am reluctant to seeing a doctor about it because I have always had them and fear it would be a waste of energy

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The blue colored knotted veins is a normal physiological variation. In thin built individuals this is more evident. The knots are due to the valves present in the veins. This is not due to a pathology.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
