Knee Pain, Swelling, Unable To Walk. Comments?

My knees have been on hold for replacement when the time is right due to patello femoral displacemnent. my patellas are on the side of my knees. To date, pain is mechanical with rising and sitting, but i have another pain on right knee in the inner surface that is sharp, incessant, and can get swollen and severe in pain. The swelling looks like the tissue band on inside of knee surface. My orthopedist will not belive me that inside of knee hurts (that bone is more prominent). The pain feels like soft tissue , not the same pain as caused by patellas. He said that one year ago, knee was not ready and my pain was coming from patella, even though I point to sharp pain on inside of knee. Three months later, I am laid off, unable to walk on knee and it is constantly in severe pain. I asked for imaging for medical tourism. Why did this make a doctor angry at me? Not his fault I am without insurance, but was paying full price with cash and do not think that I should have been scolded. Can severe pain on inside of knee be a separate tear of something? He said I do not need an MRI , but now says that arthritis is now calling TKA necessary. Funny, last year s xray did not show this. Comments? I am RN, so give it straight to me.

As you describe the full complaint and it may happen so that you may have degenerative arthritis with or without coincident meniscal tear that needs a specific imaging eg MR to establish the diagnosis and I understand your point that being a nurse you also understand that only OA can not give such sharp pain so you may better consult another orthopedic surgeon who can take a closer look and advice accordingly
hope this helps
