Jaw Fractures, Taken Antibiotic And Pain Killers, Trouble In Breathing, Infection, Information Regarding Jaw Fractures, Risks, And Recurring Health Problems

My husbad has had to go to the Hospital/ Er a few times due to a recurring problem with his jaw having tons of small fractures . (Caused from boxing earlyer years). The first time it happened he went to the dentist , for the pain and swelling he had on the side of jaw. they gave him antibiotics and pain killers but a day later we rushed him to the hospital because he was going into shock and having trouble breathing from either the infection or I m not quite sure. I know they said that even the pressure from grinding his teeth could cause it. I wanted to get some information regarding jaw fractures, risks, and recurring health problems.

HI DEAR PATIENT,
JAW BONE FRACTURE IS NOT TREATED ONLY WITH THE ANTI BIOTIC AND PAIN KILLERS, IF YOU ARE CONFIRMED WITH THE JAW FRACTURE, THEN YOU MUST CONSULT A MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON FOR THIS, THE CASE WILL BE INVESTIGATED AS CHRONIC ONE AND THERE WILL BE NEEDED FEW IMPORTANT RADIOGRAPHY INCLUDING , OPG, CEPH AND PERI APICAL VIEW OF FRONTAL ASPECT OF FACE BONES. SO I WILL SUGGEST YOU TO GET A LATEST ADVICE FROM A MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEON . REGARDS

Dentist Dr. Narayan Babu's  Response
hi.
As u mentioned multiple fractures . firstly u should go for diagnosis which means patient has to go for an X-ray . type of x-ray depend on the patient history means on which side he is complaining the pain and discomfort. opg, lateral cephalogram and others. Then doctor will identify the farcture area. If it is fractured on sides mens angle patient will unable to open his mouth and jaw movements will be restricted.
In such cases patient will be kept bed reden and all fracture bones and if the teeth are involved even the teeth will be kept in contact and will be fixed with the wire. so all these process should be done as early as possibe since the patient will feel discomfot and severe pain will leed to shok. so please kindly consult oral and maxillo facial surgeon for better diagnosis and treatment. There will be no health probles once the bones are heeld in proper position.
take care
