Itchy Dry Skin On The Face. Taking Antibiotics For Scalp Infection. Is It A Fungal Infection? Are These Related?

I have developed itchy dry skin in the area from along my jawline to underneath my cheeckbones on both sides of my face. I also have a scalp infection that I did get a checkup on, and I was prescribed antibiotics , and given the instruction that if it did not heal within a week, then it may be a sign of fungal infection? Would that be linked to the irritation on my face as well? I also have a painful patch of skin on the edge of my left eye and in the corner of it as well. It has been a number of weeks now, and I dont think it has anything to do with hormones.

Welcome
Thanks for the query .
It is surely related to the irritation of the skin . I would suggest you should use a combination of an antifungal and steroid cream for a short while like a week twice a day .
After that a long term maintenance with only topical application of the antifungal would be essential part of the treatment .
In case it does not improve make sure you see a Dermatologist
Thanks and take care

Dermatologist Dr. Sudarshan's  Response
HI ,
Thanks for writing in.
It could be seborhheic dermatitis, photodermatitis ,contact dermatitis etc.
You can try a mild steroid based cream over the area. Also you use a salicylic acid (2%)based shampoo daily.
Consider visiting a dermatologist for proper examination and treatment.

Hope this helps.

Wishing you good health.
