Itching on vagina. Temporary relief from soaking in bath. Suggestions?

I have had itching for a year on my vagina . It was only when I had my period till about 3 weeks ago it has been all the time. I shower every day using dove unscented sensitive skin and always have used that soap. It helps when I soak in a bath for about 20 mins the itching goes away but comes back after a few hours. I have been with the same man for 14 years and he is the only one I have every had sex with. I have 4 kids I just need answers please help me

The fact that you have had only one sexual partner is quite consoling to a doctor, but as the itching has lasted for quite some time could mean that both you and your partner would have to be screened for all sexually transmitted infections.

Having a two way discussion would have helped as I would have liked to know about other symptoms like vaginal discharge, if present colour; foul smelling vagina or urine; etc.

But for now, I would advise getting screened for urinary tract infections (UTIs), all sexually transmitted infections and conditions that can cause recurrent infections (eg. Diabetes, etc.).

In the meantime, consume plenty of water and abstain from all forms of sexual contact till your doctor deems it fit.
