Itching And Discomfort In Genitals. What Could This Indicate?

I have a genital issue. About a week ago, I began to itch, mostly in the shower ( I take hot showers). the itch is fairly extreme, it would occasionally flare up through out the day. Today I noticed getting out of the shower that the skin seams very smooth and is painful to the touch. not extreme pain, but discomfort. also has a red tint to it. and the lines where the skin usually shrinks back are a darker color. I have only had sex once in the last 2 years. it was about 4 months ago.

hi,
The itching in genital area could be due to infection, eczema or friction.
fungal infection as well as frictional intertrigo is the most common cause of such itching. The change in color is known as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and is due to scratching as well as infection in the area.
Please meet a dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment. In the interim, you may try using steroid antifungal cream for few days.
Regards
