Itchiness Around Rectum, Bleeding, Do Cycling A Lot . Fungal Infection? What Can Be Done?

Hi ,I have recently had problems with itchiness round my rectum and some bleeding just at the very bottom of my rectum.I have had problems a long time ago here with a fisher but that was sorted right away with a couple of applications of cream for this. But the itchiness im not sure about this.I do cycle a lot so it can be quite warm& damp in this area after long rides ,whichmakes me think it could be fungal. Is this 2 separate issues or are they both related.
Thanks

Hello
Thanks for the query. You have not mentioned whether rectal bleeding is associated with pain or not. Hemorrhoids (Piles) causes painless bleeding per rectum whereas in fissure, bleeding is associated with pain. Regarding itching, it could be due to fungal infection but can be seen in hemorrhoids as well. I suggest you to consult general surgeon for rectal bleeding.
Thank you

Hi
Welcome to HCM

The point you have raised about cycling and warm humid environment do have a logic of causing fungal infection but fungal infection rarely causes bleeding. The bleeding can be due to other several cause that can be external or internal. the external cause can be simple skin tears or cracks.

The internal causes which are the most common for anal bleeding can be hemorrhoids, Irritable bowel syndrome, malignancies on infections, Therefore it is recommended to visit a doctor and have a proctoscopy for the evaluation of bleeding.

Thanks
Regards
