Is Viral Infection Contagious?

my niece two children have viral infections and both have seen a M.D. the boy had a steriod shot and the girl medication. They are visiting us this weekend and we are concerned about our possible problem My wife and I are agess 72 and 75, We have both had Flu shot, we are in pretty good shape and are wondering if we should be cautions Thanks Charlie

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The most common viral illnesses would be the cold viruses and the flu.

These would be spread by contact with secretions (eg cough or nasal secretions).
General precautions as with anyone with a cough and cold can be done eg washing of hands or using disinfectant, hand to mouth with cough/sneeze etc
