General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
First of all kindly do first aid treatment for the wound or scratch what has happened for her. Wash it with warm water with mild disinfectant like Savlon. Keep the wound open, clean and dry. See to it that the wound doesn't get infected.
Since you are not sure of nail mark or teeth mark, it is suggestive if getting her anti-rabies vaccination. One dose of the vaccine should be administered on days 0, 3, 7, 14 and 30.
All intramuscular injections must be given into the deltoid region or, in small children, into the anterolateral area of the thigh muscle. Vaccine should never be administered in the gluteal region.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
