Is Upper Back And Shoulder Pain Due To Fibroadenoma In The Breast?

I just had an ultrasound and the radiologist found what he s pretty sure is a fibroadenoma in my right breast. It hasn t been biopsied yet, but it will be soon. I have also had upper back and shoulder pain for months that feels like a pinched nerve. Could they be related?

General Surgeon 's  Response
It is extremely unlikely that the fibroadenoma right breast is the cause of the upper back and shoulder pain. The Fibroadenoma can be tender when palpated, otherwise it would not cause any radiation of pain to the back or the shoulder. This back and shoulder pain could be due to any thoracic intervertibral disc prolapse or degeneration, which is impinging on nerves to the back and shoulder. An MRI of the thoracic vertebra would diagnose the condition, and proper management can be advised by the orthopedic surgeon. Usually the fibroadenoma breast is removed and an excision biopsy is carried out.
