Is Unclosed Incision Part Oozing Puss After C Section Concerning?
I had a c-section about 6 weeks ago and I have had an excellent recovery and healing process, however, I just noticed that I have about a 1/2 inch part of the incision that looks like it did not properly close. I have no pain but I did notice pus coming out. What will my doctor do to treat it?
Hello, If the wound is oozing pus, this means there is infection. It remains to be seen at what depth the infection has occurred. Most often it is superficial since you do not have ant systemic symptoms which would have occurred if the infection lied deep. You need to consult your health care provider for a physical examination of the wound followed by a sonogram to estimate the depth. If drainage is needed, it should be done under antibiotic coverage. If you are lactating, medication should be carefully planned. Wound healing can e accelerated by good protein diet, enzymes, rest and proper dressing. Hope this helps.
