Is Throwing Up After Intake Of Activated Charcoal And Slight Burning With Urination Normal?
My boyfriend has slight burning when he urinates and we think it s a food poison from food we ate last night , he has also thrown up a few times and all day it s been hard for him to keep anything down including ginger ale , he recently took activated charcoal, is it normal for him to have a burning when he uses the restroom??
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of your boyfriend having burning micturition after eating food you all ate last night, has also had vomiting and took activated charcoal tablets. Well food poisoning is not known to cause urinary tract infection. This looks to be coincidental that he developed such a problem. I would advise him the following: Get the urine checked for routine, microscopy, culture and sensitivity. Blood tests for CBC and kidney function tests. Stool tests to see if there is food poisoning. Take a course of an antibiotic and take plenty of fluids orally. Change over to another antibiotic as per the culture and sensitivity reports. Consult a Doctor to have clinical evaluation.
