Is This Dosage Of Percocet And Excedrin Advisable For Chronic Body Pain?

Please consider the following. I took 2 extra strength excedrin and 2 5/325 Percocet between 10 am and 5 pm today for chronic pain. Once home, I took another 4 Percocet 5/325 between 630 and 10 pm. I m extremely concerned that I have taken too much unintentionally. My dr said I could take 2 Percocet at a time if needed. I just realized excedrin contains acetaminophen as well and I have been taking excedrin and or percocets for chronic pain for several years now (about 6-8 per day combined amount) this is of a huge concern to me and now I m nervous regarding the high amount for a few years in addition to the high amount tonight. Should I go to the emergency room regarding this issue. My math adds up to about 2700 mg in a very short amount of time

General & Family Physician 's  Response
maximum dose of acetaminophen is 4000 mg in short time for which no particular treatment is required. but hepato toxicity can occur after overdose or when misused, which will be initially asymptomatic and clinically manifests after 24-48 hrs of acute ingestion. acetaminophen toxicity causes acute hepatic failure and is the second most common cause of liver failure requiring transplantation.regarding the pain you can opt for oils or ointments for local application along with life style modification and physiotherapy.life style modification includes proper balanced diet, maintaining ideal range body weight, daily exercise for 30 min, avoiding spicy, oily salty food and alcohol and smoking. oral intake of acetaminophen should be reduced to as minimum as possible.
