Is This Dosage Of Haloperidol Advisable For Restlessness In A Stroke Patient?

Hi- My 99 yr old old suffered a mild stroke this past memorial day. He was release to me four days later. He seems to have mental issues, ie. can t sleep, confused, restlessness. Seems to come late in the afternoon, to bedtime. His doctor has him on haloperidol 0.5mg, and now on 1.0mg. Is it the right med. for my dad. Could he also be suffering from sundowner syndrome?

Hello
I strongly object to a 99 year old ever getting Haldol for any mental issue.

This may be sundowner's but I would treat him with a very low dose of either Valium or Klonipin for perhaps a week or two
