Is There Any Side Effects For Valve Replacement?

my father had a valve replacement done and they used a pig valve, the dr prescribed him prodaxa but he doesn t or never had an issue with his blood clotting and his cholesterol is normal, even before the valve replacement. I keep hearing all these warning signs on tv. is he at risk?

Blood thinners(like pradaxa) are needed for the first three months after surgery with a tissue valve(pig).But this decision is taken understanding the risk profile of the patient.generally patients with tissue valve do not need long term blood thinners.Because they do have risk of bleeding and their is no conclusive benefit proven
