Is There Any Relation Between Massive Weight Gain And Appendicitis Operation?

hi doc, I used to weigh about 65kg back in 2010. I then had my appendicitis removed in October 2010.As of now, I weight 80kg. I actually go to the gym 5 days a week and I am on a calorie deficit diet and still I am not losing any weight no matter how low my carb intake is. Its like my body has just stopped burning calories. All these only happened after I had my appendicitis removed. So i am wondering if there is any link between my massive weight gain and inability to lose weight with my appendicitis removal

Hi,
I understand your query.
Appendix is a useless appendage (attached to intestines.)of our evolutionary past. It does not have any important function in digestive process.
So removal of appendix does not have any effect on normal health.
The weight gain after Appedisectomy -may come from
- faulty eating, lack of exercises, sedentary life style after operation.
-genetic predisposition,
- some other cause like- diabetes, thyroid problems ETC.
Thanks.

Hi,
Appendicitis operation and weight gain has no relation.
We should rule out some under lying diseases like Thyroid, diabetes.
So go for thyroid function tests and blood sugar.
Continue with exercises and food restriction.
Avoid sedentary life.
Ok and take care.
