hello sir iam 23yrs old.1week back my pregnancy was confirmed.actually my due date is on jan 29 2011.my hcg levels are 348 at that time.yesterday it was 388.but my doctor said she cant find any embryo in both internal and external scans.is there any problem in my hcg levels.
Hormone hCH is produced by the chorionic tissue (which in future forms placenta). Therefore the hCG levels are high even if the embryo is absent. When the gestational sac is present without embryo in it, it is called as Blighted ovum.
You seem you have Blighted ovum. Therefore your hCG levels are on descend. Such pregnancy does not grow and needs to be terminated if it does not abort by itself. If your next ultrasonography also fails to identify foetal pole of heart activity, accept the diagnosis of Blighted ovum and get the pregnancy terminated. Next time you may have normal pregnancy.
I hope this helps you.
