Is There Any Problem For Doing Breathing Exercise After Pneumonia?

I have COPD, and receive regular treatment from the V A. however I m always interested in learning more. I do practice deep breathing exercises. Pushing old air out with my diaphragm, and sucking in as much as I can when I inhale. I was doing this exercise to a continuous count of 100 times, till I caught pneumonia, and was hospitalized for a week last July. I haven t been able to do that many sense, but I m working on it. Any comments on this effort? Don t have the $ to pay for answers, but thanks any way. Bill Cramer

Hi welcome to HCm
Dear , deep breathing helps greatly to oxigenise your system and help strengthen your immunity against diseases ,

It's important to learn deep breathing and coughing exercises as these will help to lower your risk of lung complications after your treatment for pneumonia .
Always take deep breath -Inhale slowly - hold - exhale slowly - hold
don't do this in hurried manner only then you can get full benefit .
Kapalbhatti - throw out your breath thru your nose - no inhaling , This way you are releasing carbon dioxide from your system

Anulom Vilom is very effective for blood circulation , to purify mind and body.

Anulom Vilom pranayama is one of the excellent breathing exercises which is also know as Nadi Shodhana. Regular practice offers energy in the body and releases stress and anxiety. It should be practiced in the morning in the fresh air with empty stomach.
Sit comfortably on flat ground. Those who can’t sit, can sit on chair because this is related to the breath.
Now close right nostril with right thumb and breathe from left nostril. Then close left nostril with middle and ring finger and breathe out from right nostril.
Now breathe in deeply with right nostril and then close right nostril and breathe out deeply with left nostril. Do the repetition.
Do this for 5-10 minutes.
Keep in mind that your breathing should be up to the lungs and not in the stomach.
Breathing deeply: Moves air down to the bottom areas of the lungs
Opens air passages and moves mucous out (coughing is also easier)
Helps the blood and oxygen supply to your lungs, boosting circulation
Lowers the risk of lung complications such as pneumonia and infections
So your decision to start deep Breathing is very sane to strengthen immunity for better healthy life .
So, gentle yoga, meditation, and different deep breathing exercises along with intake of balanced diet including fiber, protien ,minerals ,vitamins in natural forf permitted fresh fruit & veges , & antioxidants are advised to manage stress as well as wellbeing of whole body .
Hope this helps solves your query .Take care .All the best .Wish Get well soon .
Don't hesitate to come back in case of any further query .
