Is There An Oral Medication For A Ringworm?

Is there a oral medication for a wingworm? Have been using the cream clotrimazole, betamethansone dipropionate for 2wks and it hasn't gone away yet. The texture has gotten better but the area has gotten bigger which is on my face. What other med's can my doctor prescribe?

Hi my dear,

The best therapy for ringworm is:

- oral terbinafin 250 mg for 1 month, after 1 month should be re-evaluate your current situation and further extend use of terbinafin to up to 3 or 6 months. Usually, it will be gone within the first month
- wash the local area well, and dry it well
- apply gentian violet solution (it is a kind of dye). Let it dry
- after dried, apply terbinafin cream for the first 2 weeks, then, after reevaluation can go on applying terbinafin cream for longer

All the best!
