Is There A Home Test For H Pylori Infection? White Coating On The Tongue And Bloated Stomach

Hi Doctor

Is there any way to determine at home for sure if I am H Pylori infected? I seem to have a constant white coating on my tongue and experience stomach bloating at times. I also had some throat problems and my ENT thought I had LPR. But I am really not sure and I wanted to avoid bouncing around between tests and medicines.

Hi
Welcome to HCM,
After going through your history if you are having Peptic ulcer disease, stomach malignancy in relative then you must check H.Pylori colonization.
H.Pylori not necessarily cause of disease in every case hence it is important to correlate clinically.
Many times the test is positive and it may not be related to your symptoms.
It is possible to test stool antigen kit commercially available but it may be costly? carbon urea breath test, most reliable method for detecting H. pylori infection is a biopsy check during endoscopy with a rapid urease test.
You should visit a Physician and after examination he/she will decide that if you need to go for investigations, if it is related to Peptic ulcer disease ans recurrent then it can be treated with triple or quadruple therapy.
If you are having reflux disease then it can be treated with PPI and prokinetic drugs.
Appropriate consultation and required investigations are absolutely necessary to you do not think you will be bouncing around tests.
Please take care
Good Luck
