Is There A Connection Between Cold With Flu And Finding Blood Cells In Urine?

Hi, since September this year up to now in early December 2013 I have been having cold and flu every beginning of each month a week or two before my period comes. Just last month my 18 months old son was jumping on me in the morning while I had full bladder and later found blood cell in my urine, it lasts for more than a month with decreasing blood cells over 3 urine tests. My doctor ordered a cystoscope tomorrow to examine my bladder but just today I felt pain on my lower right hand side my my tummy and in the afternoon I have fever again. Up to 37.5 C.

Could you indicate any solutions I should do to find out the cause? Thanks so much for helping me!

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The cold & flu and finding blood cells in urine can be related or can be unrelated.
Flu is caused due to infection of the upper respiratory tract and blood in urine is caused by some abnormality in the urinary tract.
There is one condition of the kidney preceded by flu.
This condition is called Ig A nephropathy or Berger disease.
This condition starts by appearance flu followed by blood cells and proteins in urine.
However, certain investigations are required to male any diagnosis.
Consult your physician for relevant investigations.
The condition can be managed after the result of the investigations only.

Thanks and take care
