Is The Heart Rate Result Worrisome?

I went to dr today, I have been feeling severe fatigue, constant headache, racing heart. My heart rate was 38 sitting, bp 108/80 she took this a couple times and came out the same. They took it with me laying down and and pulse was 70. I go for a echo cardio gram in four days. Is this something I need to worry about over the weekend? I am 52 yrs old 140 lbs, med history Chiari Malformation with deminished CSF flow, I had chiari decompression in 2011. Cerebellum has dropped back down. I also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Thank you for your help!

HI

Thanks for posting your query.

Yes your heart rate is of concern because 38 is very low and sometimes it can be life treatening.

Low heart rate can be due to either problems in the heart , problems in the brain or some endocrinological problem.

In view of your Chiari malformation I would consider brain problem as the cause of low heart rate initially. Kindly get a MRI brain done and revert back .

If the MRI brain comes out normal then we need to consider heart as the cause of low Heart rate . In that case you need to get TMT , 2D Echo test and a cardiologist opinion.

Kindly follow this advise .

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any Clarification feel free to ask .
