Is Taking Up A X-ray Necessary For The Hip Which Is Sore Due To A Fall?

Hello. I fell outside on ice and landed on my lft hip/buttocksm. got up and walked immediately, but now very sore. Can sit on it, and walk, but soreness evident. No bruising as of yet. Don't think broken or likely couldn't carry my body weight-210 lbs. Is it necessary to have x-rays? Don't have any insurance...53 yrs old female

Hi there.

If one goes by the book then yes....it is customery to get an Xray done because one can never be too careful ..... and I would suggest the same.

In your case you might get away with not getting it done as you are walking around .....and a fracture is unlikely.

Take complete bed rest foe a week
Ice pack to injured area
A goood analgesic like diclofenac .
A multi vitamin.

If the pain does not decrease even after a week or increases...then I would definitely suggest you to get the Xray done .

I hope my advice has helped
Good luck
