Is Taking Azithral 500 Recommended During Pregnancy?

Hi...My wife is 35 weeks pregnant...she is having dry cough(with brownish colour coming out) with sore throat for last 3 days.....now she is compaling abt chest congestion as well....so is it safe for her to take azithral 500 mg tablets( one tablet each day for 3 days)?

Hi and welcome to HCM

Azithromycin is a category B drug which means that while there is no evidence of this harming thee child, no controlled studies are available to assess outcomes in pregnant women.
It is given only when the benefit outweighs the risk. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic which is considered safe during pregnancy and I would suggest you speak to your physician about this.

Also warm water gargling will reduce the symptoms of sore throat
