Is Taking Pencillin Advisable After Taking Clindamycin For Gum Infection?

I am confused weather I continue the pinicillin V I was prescribed 6 days ago. I reported to my dentist that.I have swollen gum and felt that it goes to my cheek. She told me to stop it and prescribed me clindomysin 300 milligram. I went to my old dentist who pulled my tooth and told me I have a lot of infection in my gum . Three years ago , he prescribed penicillin and I did not have any problem.
I still have 12 pieces on the 500 milligram pinicillin V the first dentist gave me 6 days ago. Can I continue taking this pinicillin V. I think I'm not allergic to this because I now realized the swelling was caused by the infection. Help!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain infection in gum and tooth can be a probable cause for swelling over the cheek and in case if you had a history of taking Penicillin before also, then the chances of allergic reaction are less probable..
But in case of any doubt you can avoid taking Penicillin and continue with Clindamycin as it is also appropriate to relieve gum infection..
I would therefore advice you to continue taking Clindamycin and also take Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and Serratiopeptidases..
You should take Penicillin only after consulting a Physician and not on your own..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
