Is Taking IBD Safe ?

I have been suffering with diarrhea, stomach cramps, abdominal pain, pains in my joints, pains at the back of my head, fatigue, weight loss or loss of apitite for the last few months. This all happened after i was in the D.R.C and got ecoli, typhoid, ameoebis. i was cleared of all that, was still suffering so had an operation on my heitus hernia, but i still have the sypmtoms. Could i have gotten IBD from all the diseases I had? If not IBD, what could it be? the doctors i have been to have no clue.

Hi,

As long as you have been cleared of all the infectious diseases as you are mentioning, it will take some time after your GI tract (including intestines) to get back to their normal functioning.

I suggest to get regular check ups for all the infectious diseases mentioned although you are all cleared. A possible relapse might be suspected especially for ecoli and ameobiasis due to their lifecycle.

I advise to take:
- otc tasectan for diarrhea (if it is more than 5 watery bowel movements/day)
- otc probiotics for at least 1 month on daily basis
- multivitamins (B, C, D, and zinc) to strengthen your immune system

All the best!
