Is Switching From Previfem To Cryselle For A Short Period Advisable?

I was looking online to see if there was much difference between norgestimate and norgestrel. I have 2 daughters. One is on previfem and one is on cryselle. One ran out of their pills... the other just received her 3 month supply. Would my daughter be able to switch from previfem to cryselle for the month? Or is it a completely different medicine. One site of comparison said it wouldn t make a difference. Is this correct?

Hello,
Thankyou for asking your question at health care magic.

If you were my patient I would say that switching medication is fine. Both norgestrel and norgestimate are synthetic progesterone with almost similar (low to intermediate ) progesterone activity.
How ever some patients experience different side effects with these medications though.
Other than that it is fine to switch medication.

Hope I was able to answer your question.
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
