Is Swallowing Ballpoint Pen Ink Toxic By A Child?
My baby is 2.5years old. 2daz before she sucked a gel pen refill. Her tongue full was black in colour. We washed it away. Today she has cough and fever. Is this occuring because of that ink? But i think not more than a drop would have entered her stomach.

it is mild toxic and gastric irritant. it is not poisonous. it contains lead a heavy metal. she is not taking daily but it is only once accidental. best thing is washing. now keep the child under observation. what ever he has ingested will be digested and excreted or defecated. let him drink more water. give some antacid like polycrolgel. symptomatic treatment forother problem like syrup paracetamol for fever corex for cough. maintain hydration.
