My 77 year old mother has some serious health issues from diabetes, high cholesterol, high BP, and she is three weeks out from congestive heart failure episode. She previously was having an issue with her right eye which she is legally blind in and was having pain. Eye doctor recommended we get a second opinion on some hemorrhaging he noticed and the specialist is recommending laser surgery due to blood in the eye and he is unable to see the back of the eye. I feel this may have been caused by the undiagnosed high BP and I'm not sure she needs to have this laser surgery because I do not see the benefit for her. . She will not save any vision and she is no longer is in any pain which I think was caused by her high blood pressure. We could be dealing with a similar issue in a few months from the complications of her diabetes and I do not feel she needs to have the surgery at this time. What would your recommendation be?
diabetes and hypertension give rise to retinopathy. in diabetes capillary hemorrhage will be there. with laser beam photo coagulation i done. it is not a surgery. the bleeding points are sealed from out side. consult retina surgeon
