Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have scoliosis and was recently told I would be in a wheelchair if I don t have surgery. Apparently I was born with spinabifida. First I had to have surgery on my neck which took place Feb 2014, now they want to put rods down my whole spine and release the spinal cord. I opted not to do this as I have no one to care for me or support me. The problem is that I am finding it more and more difficult to walk any distance and every step is a very conscious effort to the point where even though I want to take another step, it is so mentally difficult.
Surgery is best treatment for your case till date.
If you do not want to get operated, then you should try to confine yourself for a little distance walker only, i.e you cannot walk too much or restrict your daily work.
So please make your mind as early as you can, for the surgery.
Thanks.
Dr.Singh.
