hiii dear

usually sudden change is not advisable

but in this case only add a medication not substitute
so it doesn't leads to any problem

because elecia has different modality of action

it may improve certain symptoms
so dont worry take medicine regularly
consult doctor
take follow up
see the progress
get well soon
thank you

hello,
I have read your query carefully and can see that your child is suffering from schizophrenia and now he is in hyper mode from sometime. His doctor has changed Palido to Elicia recently and you are concerned about his recovery.

What is evident from the treatment regimen you mentioned here is that your child had kind of low mood (depression) sometimes back for which he was put on Nexito 30mg (30mg is a high dose for this molecule). . Changing from Palido to Elicia is not a problem as the dose of Palido was low 3mg only and already he is on schizopin 400mg. The problem is why has the doctor changed to Elicia?...If this is done to control hyper mode then I think that the best approach would have been to reduce nexito (the antidepressant, as this could have been the main reason behind the hyper mode which he entered now), and monitoring the results, this could even have been stopped or atleast reduced significantly.

Second approach can be , stopping palido and increasing Diva to 1250-1500mg daily. This would solve many purpose: 1. this being a mood stabilizer would take care of both low and high/hyper state of mood, 2. this would also control the current hyper state, and 3. this would lately reduce of eliminate the need of both palido/nexito completely.

So, just by changing the drug to elicia dosent appear to be very good option. to control hyper mood, it is better to reduce nexito first and monitor patient closely.

Hope the reply helps you.

Medications are usually changed when either patient is not tolerating medications or not able to control the symptoms. I am not clear, but you have suggested that there is some worsening of the symptoms, so that may be the reason of changing the medications. When medications are changed there can be some worsening of the symptoms, so you need to observe for that. If you observe any such change then consult the treating doctor
