Is Stomach Ache A Side Effect Of Augmentin?

Is the augmentin I've been taking for pneumonia likely the cause of my constant stomach aches, bloating and "rotten egg" tasting burps? I had a stomach virus about 10 days ago and aspirated while vomiting, which is what caused my pneumonia. I went to the ER about 5 days ago, the doc did x-rays and then prescribed Augmentin. Because of the stomach virus, it didnt occur to me sooner that the antibiotic might be the culprit.

The symptoms may be because of the augmentin which contains amoxicilline + clavlunate wich is antibiotic & may cause severe acidity.
The antibiotic induced acidity & gastritis may be the reason for constant stomach aches & bloating.
To avoid above said symptoms you can have the tab after having food and additionally can have antacid tab such as omeprazole or rabeprazole two times a day before food.
Also it is advisable to increase the contents of the foods such as curd or buttermilk in diet or addition of probiotic tablets in medication which will relive abdominal symptoms.
