Is Soreness In The Knee After Injury Indicative Of A Fracture?

I slipped and fell on a tile floor and landed on my knee cap. The knee causes me no issues (I ran 10 miles yesterday), however, I can t kneel on it or touch it without a severely sharp pain. When I do kneel on my knees, it doesn t have the same support as the other knee....almost feels like swelling or something is floating inside. Is it possible that I have cracked or chipped my knee? Again, it doesn t hurt at all in normal activity, just direct contact.

Hello
This sounds like just a bruised patella, but you should have a doctor check it out to see if x-rays are warranted here. You may have a hairline fracture of the patella, but, even so, that usually mends without casting.
