Is Soreness And Irritation In Perineum Due To Yeast Infection?

Hi I am a 25 yr old. female with soreness and irritation in the perineum area. About two weeks ago I was taking an antibiotic for strep throat which I discontinued due to a severe yeast infection. I have been using Cortaid on the area with no relief. Do you think this is still yeast related and what do you suggest as treatment.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain soreness and irritation in perineum seems to be most probably due to yeast infection as you already have a recent history of yeast infection..
It can also be due to superseded bacteria infection..
But for confirmation you need to consult a Proctologist and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and investigations like a swab culture of the perineum can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to apply a combination of antibiotic and antifungal ointment..
You can also continue with Coratid along with the above combination to reduce irritation..
Do cool compresses in the area..
Wear cotton and loose fitting undergarments..
Keep the area dry and clean..
