Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son was diagnosed with tonsillitis two days ago. His fever seems to be gone but his throat is severely sore and is still red and blistered. The fever seems to be gone.He also has a sinus and ear infection. Should I send him back to school today? Would he still be contagious
Hi, Thanks for posting your query in HealthCareMagic
Tonsilitis is mainly caused by a virus or a bacteria. It is spread by contact with an infected person through the oral droplets when he sneezes or coughs. If your son was started on antibiotics, it is no longer contagious after 24-48 hours after initiating antibiotics. If antibiotics were not taken, then I would recommend you to wait till his symptoms of sore throat has resolved.
Hope this helps Thank you
