Is Shingles Vaccine Necessary Despite No Chicken Pox Symptoms?

I read some confusing reports about the need for the shingles vaccine. One website says you should getthe vaccine whether you have had chickenpox or not and all say thattheonly way to get shingles is if you had chicken pox. So why would you need the vaccinne if you never had chicken pox?
