Is Severe Pain In Gums A Side Effect Of Carvedilol?
I was put on carvedilol to help my heart. Within a day my gums around my teeth hurt so much I cannot brush them nor use mouth wash. I checked and periodontal disease is a rare side effect. Do you have any thoughts on this. I stopped bc I have upper and lower partials and want to keep the few teeth I have left YYYY@YYYY
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain Carvedilol is a beta blocker and is used in heart patients.. As far as gum inflammation is concerned, it is not a very common side effect but the occurrence can be seen.. In case if the symptoms are very severe you should consult your treating physician and get evaluated and either dose alteration or change in the drug can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. As of now you should gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.. Do warm saline gargles.. Do cool water rinses or suck ice pops.. Avoid spicy and hard foods and take semisolid diet and more of fluids..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
