Is Septoplasty Required To Treat Cold, Sneezing And Septum Deviation?

I am 32 year old male, staying in Bangalore from last 7/8 years. I am suffering from cold (I sneeze a lot during that time-frame). This happens almost every month once, from last few years. Since last 1 year I was in US, and I never faced this problem there. Few days back I returned from US and I again got the same problem and hence I consulted a doctor. The doctor has suggested me to go with Septoplasty as they found a bend in my nasal septum. Please suggest that I should go with same or it can be treated without any surgery. I am having doubt because I never faced this problem when I was in US. Thanks, Anant Kumar Modi

Hi Mr Ananth...
Welcome to HCM...
The symptoms of sneezing, nasal obstruction all indicate that is allergic rhinitis...you may be having deviated septum ...but we don't know whether your obstruction will improve after surgery...because it can also be part your rhinitis...so first I would like to treat your allergic rhinitis with tab montair LC one tab at night for 14 days with a steroid nasal spray one spray each nostril twice a day ...and review you after 14 days...and decide ...I also avoid allergens like dust...
Good luck get well soon...
