hi...thanks for writing... i have understood your concerns,..

clozapine is antipsychotic medication, which is serotonin dopamine antagonist...it usually used for the resistant cases of schizophrenia...[resistant means not showing response to at least 2 antipsychotic drugs, given in adequate dosage for adequate time duration]

clozapine has many side effects, to prevent common and milder side effects it was given in low dose and gradually increased..

clozapine causes anticholinergic side effects, so causes of blurring of vision, and precipitation or worsening of glaucoma, that is a disorder of eye..

if your daughter has glaucoma, then clozapine shud be given cautiously or avoided..

in my opinion, if she has high intra ocular pressure, then go for detailed evaluation and consultation by ophthalmologist..if she has glaucoma, then, whether to give clozapine to your daughter or not, it shud be a combine decision of psychiatrist, ophthalmologist and you...

also, visit your treating psychiatrist and ask about the decision of giving clozapine is justified or not..what is the risk benefit ratio?

i hope this advice will be helpful to you..best luck..

Clonazepam is ok but try giving that during night times with milk or an fruit juice. Please go with her for a walking or regular excercises for atleast 3km per day and talk to her smoothly for atleast 1 hour in a day. Also try out Accupuncture treatment with the nearest physician.Schizoprenia usually associated with numbness.Accupuncture with help out from that.If any eye problems, Please use light glycerine drops every morning and night.

Hi,

Clozapine is used to treat all kinds of schizophrenia, including paranoid schizophrenia. I do not know whether your daughter should be on it or not but it does help many patients when all other medicines have failed. It does have quite a few side effects including weight gain and the benefits outweigh the risks in people who have have not responded to other drugs.

Best wishes.
