Is Repeated Presence Of Blood In Urine A Sign Of Cancer?

I had a urine test last week and came out with some blood, once I got home I realize I was on my period, they asked me to redo the test a week latter ( today) and again they found blood in it. Could this be a sign of cancer? I also did a blood test and they told me that my blood cells count are low, I will have another test next month, I' m a little concern. I made an appointment with an urologist for next month.

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have hematuria since one week.

hematuria due to cancer any where in urinary system is a gross hematuria where patient passes frank blood (Macroscopic Hematuria)
Since you have microscopic hematuria it is most likely to be due to infection (UTI)
However final diagnosis can be confirmed only on clinical examination by a C.T Scan (Urologist and following investigation,
1) Routine urine test and urine culture.
2)Ultrasound scanning of abdomen
3) Blood coagulation profile
4) C.T Scan (if required).

In the mean while take please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefotaxime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.and later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.
Ensure to drink more water tokeep your urine dilute.
