Hello and welcome to HCM! Do you know anything about this procedure? Before any procedure I recommend to my patients to learn as much about it as possible before they make up their mind on whether to proceed or not.

Reeshape is a procedure whereby the stomach is almost entirely full of inflated balloons leaving little room for food. The balloons are only a temporary measure and each persons success or failure rate is just that, "individual".

I certainly would recommend other methods before choosing this one.

Patients with the device lost approximately 14 pounds in the six months they were allowed to keep the procedure as opposed to the 7 pounds in the control group who did not have the procedure done. I have had many patients lose an average of 24 pounds or more in six months with just a good Weight Loss Program. Is this really the best way for you?

I cannot comment on how your back pain will react. Losing weight helps ease back pain, yet already having pain and then having a procedure done - this is an individual answer.

What do you mean, how will you know the results? Well, if you aren't having complications and you are losing weight with the procedure than I guess it is working. You ask how much weight will you lose in two months - extrapolating from the study above you would lose 5 pounds.

Good luck with your decisions and if I can help further, please drop me a line. Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
